Where Are They Now: Aaron Clark

Where Are They Now - Aaron Clark

Having spent just under six years at QE, Aaron left in Year 11 to embark on two years in a college closer to his family home. From there, he moved on to university in York, studying for a BA (Hons) in Sports Studies & Science at York St John. After graduating, he returned to QE as a houseparent for Sixth Form boys in Genesis House, reconnecting with familiar faces—including his all-time favourite, Kath Flaherty, with whom he still keeps in touch today!

After gaining vital experience supporting young people at an SEN school, he took on his first management role with The Prince’s Trust, covering West Yorkshire as a Team Leader and Course Manager, supporting 16 to 25-year-olds on the 12-week Team Programme.

Having met his now-wife Kathryn, also a former QE student, they moved to Devon for a new challenge and to pursue further career goals. While working for the local authority as a Community Development Lead, with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing, Aaron founded Mental Health Muscle, a non-profit organisation using exercise and fitness as a driving force for change, helping those experiencing mental health challenges and living with diagnosed conditions. He later established AMC Education and Health, consulting with businesses across the UK to raise awareness of mental health and empower people to feel more confident in supporting wellbeing. This led him to a role as Strategic Service Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Lead.

He then transitioned to SSAFA, where he has spent the last 18 months supporting military families, serving personnel, veterans, and their dependants, making a life-changing impact.

In his spare time, Aaron volunteers as a mentor for a local charity, supporting young people through difficult times.

"If it hadn’t been for QE, I wouldn’t now be married to Kat, nor would I carry many of the values I hold today—independence, loyalty, connection, and the desire to be around people, helping them grow and develop in whatever way that may be."
