International Summer School has partnered with Mike Phelan Coaching to offer students an exclusive one-week football camp, providing sports coaching from top industry professionals.
Maximise your use of Queen Ethelburga’s professional facilities by combining learning on the pitch with classroom education. Mike Phelan and his team will guide you step-by-step through elite coaching and gameplay, teaching you how to enter the sports industry, develop a winning strategy, and improve your on-field performance.
The football camp is designed for students aged 10 to 17 who are serious about beginning a career in sports. Students must already be part of a football team. The course is split into Junior (10 to 13) and Senior (14 to 17) camps.

Section 1: Education Off The Pitch
Solution-Focused Coaching
Learn firsthand how Premier League teams prepare and strategise for matches. Step into the role of a coach by watching opponent videos and analysing their player’s performance. Then, create a strategy to beat your opponent and test it out on the pitch.
You will be assessed on your tactical and formational awareness, as well as your ability to create winning opportunities.
Careers in Football
A winning football team requires more than talented players. MP Coaching provides a fly-on-the-wall insight into the inner workings of elite-level sports. Discover the variety of careers in the industry, and learn how to build a successful multidisciplinary team—from psychology and sports to media and travel operations.
You will receive guidance on building a strong CV, gaining relevant experience, and exploring pathways into university and higher education.
Section 2: Improving Your Game On The Pitch
The MP Coaching Player Experience focuses on technical skills, tactical understanding and physical conditioning. Train like a professional using Queen Ethelburga’s state-of-the-art facilities, utilised by teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, and New Zealand Rugby League teams.
