Wellbeing at Chapter House

Chapter House teachers work closely with the Pastoral Team to ensure your child receives the best possible support and care.

The Pastoral Team visits Chapter House on a weekly basis to provide workshops and individual support to students as recommended by the class teacher. The Team is skilled in helping your child manage emotions to deal with friendship and homesickness.

Promoting Time For Wellbeing

The Pastoral Team run Whole School Awareness Weeks for students to reflect on key issues surrounding mental health and self-esteem. There are six Awareness Weeks based on the following themes: digital wellbeing, anti-bullying, wellbeing, equality, spirituality and culture.

Throughout the Awareness Weeks, older students and the Pastoral Team visit Chapter House to run activities based on the week’s theme. Many of the older students who run the activities have completed safeguarding and mental health awareness training.

Our Co-Curricular and Pastoral Teams run Wellbeing Sessions for children in Years 1 to 6 as part of QE’s Outreach programme with local schools. The sessions are a chance for your child to meet other students from local schools and for Year 5 students to mingle with Year 6 students from King’s Magna.

A happy Chapter House pupil.

We ensure your child is happy and healthy at school.
A Community That Listens To Your Child

Our aim is to ensure that your child feels seen, heard and comfortable to be themselves. There are plenty of opportunities for your child to meet with staff and other students to voice their opinions and make positive changes to the school.

Students can join the Student Voice Committee, School Council, Food Council, Anti-Bullying Council or become a Prefect in Year 5.

A Calm, Safe, And Supportive Environment

Chapter House staff work with the Pastoral Team to ensure your child learns and grows in an environment that is safe and supportive. Our small school environment provides a supportive network of staff and students. Older Chapter House students become Buddies for new starters, and students from King’s Magna, QE Faculty and QE College can be Peer Mentors to children in Chapter House.

During lunchtimes and after-school, the Pastoral Team organise activities to help pupils make friends and build confidence. These activities include Pokémon Club, Relax and Rewind, Yoga and “Thank Puzzle It’s Friday.”

No matter what support your child needs, they will quickly feel a sense of belonging at Queen Ethelburga’s.

Mrs. Kilkenny, the Head Teacher of Chapter House, and the students celebrated Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate's birthday by cutting a cake with a sword, a tradition that has spanned over 100 years.
