State-of-the-Art Sporting Facilities

Our renowned sporting facilities continue to set the standard, having previously hosted professional teams like Arsenal, Manchester City, and New Zealand Rugby League. Since 2022, we have been hard at work renovating our sports amenities to better serve our students, kicking off with the resurfacing of our triple-court sports hall, now emblazoned with the Team QE lion and eagle logo to embody the spirit of our students. Our outdoor facilities have also undergone significant upgrades, including the addition of a brand-new cricket pavilion. This facility includes changing rooms, toilets, and a kitchen for post-match afternoon teas, promoting both boys' and girls' cricket programmes. |
Additionally, our astroturfs for football and rugby have been completely resurfaced, providing a fresh and exciting playing field for our athletes to play against other private schools in England. Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the launch of our new gym in early 2025, equipped with ice baths, water treadmills, and state-of-the-art strength and conditioning suites. These enhancements reflect our commitment to supporting our Performance Sports Programme for students training to play netball, football, basketball, cricket and rugby.
New and Improved Boarding Facilities at Private School in England
Boarding at Queen Ethelburga's is designed to be a home away from home. Our facilities already included an activity centre, tuck shop, swimming pool, and cinema, with students receiving first access to the new gym and refurbished sports hall.
In 2023, we opened a dedicated boarding house for our youngest students in Years 3 to 6. The new rooms feature smaller beds, accessible storage, and cheerful decorations to create a comforting atmosphere. Children can choose between baths and showers, and social areas are designed with soft nooks and playful illustrations. Boarding houses for older students are also being renovated with a fresh lick of paint and new furniture.
Outside, we’ve expanded our play area to include more swings, basketball hoops, and a kitchen garden for budding green thumbs. At Muggles, our on-site activity centre, a new gaming suite featuring the latest consoles allows students to enjoy immersive gaming experiences. Perfect for students in QE Faculty studying Esports as a BTEC. Additionally, our fast food restaurant has reopened on weekends and there are plans to renovate the outdoor activity area with paddleboard courts.
Revamped Classrooms for Mathematics and English
In line with our ethos to academic excellence, we are proud to announce the completion of a new block of classrooms dedicated to Mathematics, featuring a board room and a study centre for Sixth Form students. The classrooms are adorned with murals of famous mathematicians and equipped with smart boards, creating an engaging learning environment. With Mathematics being the most popular subject at the school, students can pursue Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Statistics at both GCSE and A Level.
Next year, we will also unveil renovated English classrooms and an updated library, providing our students with inspiring spaces to explore their passion for literature.
